Post-Race Interviews: Round#4 Top Three GT3 Drivers

Release date / 2017-07-14

First Place

Audi Hong Kong Eric Lo and Melvin Moh

“I’m happy that it didn’t rain today. It was much easier to finish the race under dry conditions and pleased to bring the car safely back to my teammate.”

——Eric Lo

“I’m so happy to have won first place in race 4. This is the result of teamwork: if it weren’t for my partner, I doubt we would have won. The team did an excellent job with tyre change and pit stop was flawless. I also want to thank Audi for providing such an excellent car.”

——Melvin Moh

Tactics

When talking tactics, Eric said that his main plan was to stay as close as possible to the car in front. Melvin was focused on trying to execute a very precise and short pit stop for drivers change. He said that consistency on the tracks was key to winning.

The Team

Eric praised his team’s professionalism, while Melvin stated how much he relied on the rest of his team. Both the drivers and the team worked together to get this result.

The Experience

Eric had a good run, managing to keep his lap times consistent. Both drivers struggled to cope in the heat, which made the car hard to control when cornering. Although they were more than happy with their win, they will use the race data to keep improving.

Second Place

Audi Hong Kong Marchy Lee and Alex Au

“There were many surprises in yesterday’s race, but we did even better today. I think we had good BoP setting for the Audi R8 LMS. I’m so happy to have won the race, and I’d like to thank the team for all their support.”

——Marchy Lee

“The dry conditions allowed us to pick up the pace today. The pressure was on after Marchy’s amazing start to the race. I thought we would engage in an intense battle with the #5 Bentley of Andrew and Weiron but we managed to take the lead after the driver change. I am very pleased with this result!”

——Alex Au

Third Place

KINGS Wang Liang and Martin Rump

“We didn’t get off to the best start. The hot weather tested my stamina to the fullest extent. I just tried to concentrate on gradually catching up to the car in front. I was really happy that Martin finished so strongly.”

——Wang Liang

“We’ve spent a lot of time trying to improve. We’re always practising. It feels like we got these results with the help of a lot of effort and a little luck.”

——Martin Rump
