Round 9 Top Three Drivers Post Race Reactions

Release date / 2017-10-04

GT3

1st Place

Xu Jia, Kings Racing: We had an incident during the start but we managed to keep both Audis safe and crossed the finish line in P1 and P2. However, a boggled driver change strategy has resulted in a 60-second penalty for #08, relegating it to P5. We won’t make the same mistake again and will come back stronger tomorrow.

Jake Dennis, Kings Racing: it was a fantastic day and the car is in good condition. We had a longer pit stop so we came out fourth after the driver change. I had to overtake two cars to get into this position. We hope to keep this up for tomorrow.

2nd Place

Kuo Kuo Hsin, D2 Racing: We had an eventful race today, a crash, a red flag and then the Safety Car. I was in P3 during restart but manage to bring the car back in P2. Me and my teammate worked hard for this, and this is our first GT3 podium. I am absolutely delighted.

3rd Place

Li Chao, JRM JiaRui – TengDa:   I was almost caught in the starting incident! It was probably one of the shortest races in my racing career, having only driven one lap before handing the car to Chris. We had an issue with the car and wasn't on our best. Nevertheless, we are grateful to be in P3.

Chris van der Drift, JRM JiaRui – TengDa:  We didn't quite have the pace for today’s race but happy to take P3.

1st Place

Bian Hao, JRM JiaRui – TengDa:   I feel good about the results, even though I didn't get much racing going today. I look forward to future races where I can show off my true ability and I am grateful to my team and teammate Will.

Will Bamber, JRM JiaRui – TengDa:  It has been a good race for us. Hao did well despite a shortened race. We will push hard for the next race.

2nd Place

Andrew Tang, JRM JiaRui – TengDa: I wasn’t all that happy and I feel I could do better. My teammate and the team has don't well. We hope to get the top step tomorrow.

3rd Place

CJ Huang, D2 Racing: My left front tyre has been slightly wobbly ever since the restart, and my left rear is acting strange as well. We didn't have enough time to figure out what’s wrong with it so we just have to keep pushing. Towards the end of the race I suffered a dislodged rear tyre, and had to return to the pit. I lost a lot of time and the chance to get the top spot. Nevertheless I am still happy with my result today.

GT4 Class

1st Place

Yang Mengqiao, ChinaEquity AMR: I am so excited about the result today! Our team has worked so hard for this. We had a few incidents in the previous rounds. We had the pace but never made it on the podium. This win couldn't come at a better time!

Ross Gunn, ChinaEquity AMR: It is unbelievable and I’m over the moon. This has definitely made up for a disappointing Shanghai weekend.

2nd Place

David McIntyre, The Winning Team: The track was very slippery and it was tough defending Stanley. I am happy to bring the car safely back to my teammate. Roelof had a great second stint. We are very happy with P2.

Roelof Bruins, The Winning Team: David did a good job bringing the car back in P3. My goal is to finish the race and score some points, because we have the championship in mind. I am glad we did that.

3rd Place

Sam Lok, Team Lotus: Tough race today. There aren’t many Am-Am driver pairing in this category. I have tried my best and happy to take the podium in the end.
